Georgia Tech is consistently ranked among the best universities in the United States and the world by Forbes Magazine. For over a decade, Georgia Tech has remained among the top ten public universities in the United States. In 2015, U.S. News & World Report ranked the Institute as the #5 engineering school and the #7 public institution overall to gain an education. Tech’s industrial engineering program has been ranked #1 for more than two decades. Ten of the undergraduate engineering programs – and all 11 graduate engineering programs – are in the top 10, Schools of Industrial Engineering (1st), Mechanical (3rd), Aerospace (2nd), Biomedical (2nd), Civil (3rd), Electrical (5th), Environmental (2nd), Computer (6th), Materials (5th) and Chemical (7th), and Industrial Engineering (1st), Biomedical (2nd), and Aerospace (2nd) at the graduate level. Georgia Tech's graduate computer science program also ranks in the top 10. In 2015, The Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked Georgia Tech 27th in the world and 11th in Engineering & IT globally.

As a result, Georgia Tech offers a wide variety of technologically focused bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs, as well as lab classes and professional development courses for the continuing education and intellectual expansion of industry and academic professionals.

IEN fosters the future of engineering and technology from early childhood to adult professional development through its partnership with the campus-wide K-12 science education and leadership outreach programs.

NNCI Education and Outreach

IEN is the location for the Education and Outreach Office of the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI). NNCI provides a wide variety of educational outreach in nanotechnology that reaches school aged children through adult professionals. The IEN NNCI Education and Outreach Office has as its mission to provide educational programs for young people, teachers, undergraduates, graduate students, adult professionals, and the general public.
