2019 IEN Soft Lithography for Microfluidics Short Course
September 19th & 20th | Marcus Nanotechnology
This 2 day intensive short course will be structured to assume no prior knowledge of the technologies by the participants. The course agenda is evenly divided between laboratory hands-on sessions, including SU-8 master mold creation using photolithography and PDMS device fabrication in the IEN cleanroom, and supporting lectures. The goal for this course is to impart a basic understanding of soft lithography for microfluidic applications as practiced in academia and industry.

2019-2020 Core Facilities Seed Grant Program : Information and Request for Applications

The Georgia Tech IEN is an Interdisciplinary Research Institute (IRI) comprised of faculty and students interested in using the most advanced facilities for fabrication, characterization, and cleanroom processes, to facilitate research in micro- and nano-scale materials, devices, and systems. Applications of this research span all disciplines in science and engineering with particular emphasis on biomedicine, electronics, optoelectronics and photonics, and energy applications. As there can be a learning curve associated with initial proof-of-concept development and testing using cleanroom tools, this seed grant program was developed to expedite the initiation of new graduate students and new research projects into productive activity. Successful proposals to this program will identify a new, currently-unfunded research idea that requires core facility access to generate preliminary data necessary to pursue other funding avenues.
This seminars-plus-lunch program aims to catalyze scientific and cultural exchange between Georgia Tech students and 12 visiting undergrads from Japan.
IEN Special Seminar: A Physical Organic Chemist's Approach to Precursors for the Deposition of Inorganic Nanostructures
Strategies for adapting selected CVD precursor types for FEBID and efforts to identify privileged ligand classes and optimal coordination spheres for FEBID precursors will be discussed in the context of studies on Ru, Pt and Au complexes.
Nano@Tech is an organization comprised of professors and graduate and undergraduate students from Georgia Tech and nearby academic institutions, as well as professionals from the corresponding scientific community that are interested in nanotechnology.

Georgia Tech ECE Achieves Highest Placements Ever in U.S. News & World Report Undergraduate Program Rankings
The Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering has reached its highest placements ever in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Issue, which includes undergraduate engineering program rankings.
IEN is home to one of the sixteen sites of the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI). The NNCI was initiated by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2015 to provide researchers from academia, industry, and government access to university user facilities with leading-edge fabrication and characterization tools, instrumentation, and expertise within all disciplines of nanoscale science, engineering and technology.
IEN, in partnership with the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) in Greensboro, NC, created the Southeastern Nanotechnology Infrastructure Corridor (SENIC)providing research and educational resources to students, researchers, and educators in the southeast US and beyond. In addition, IEN serves as the Coordinating Office for the NNCI network.
